Welcome to the home of the Basket weavers of Australia
The palmweavers of Far North Queensland use the fronds of the coconut palm,
the stem of the calamus palm {cane or rattan}, and a variety of palm material.
The Basketeer tutors the weaving techniques to any person able to spend some time at
Port Douglas or Palm Cove, Cairns in Far North Queensland.
All students of the Craft are able to promote their works on this website and can contribute to occasional market displays and exhibitions, and sell their work.
Materials sourced in North Queensland can be ordered and freighted to most states of Australia.
These miniature baskets are woven from 2mm pith cane.
